Rooftop Yoga: MPY @ LynLake Brewery
Picture this: A beautiful view of MPLS, a colorful slew of yoga mats, the sun on your back and about 20 smiling yogis ready to Namaste the shit out of the Saturday morning.
This past Saturday a friend and I attending Minneapolis Power Yoga's Rooftop Yoga at LynLake Brewery. The instructors were friendly and inspiring and the sunshine was rooting us on like a cheerleader at a Southern football game.
Here are 5 reasons you should step out of your studio and try your down-dog in the sunshine
1. Support a Local Business
One of the many great things about Minneapolis is just how aware this city is of the importance of celebrating and supporting local businesses. MPY is one of those fabulous local establishments that deserves that support. Having only practiced once, I can only say that I will definitely be attending if only to feel their amazing energy.
2. Make New Yogi Friends
I truly believe that connection to other human beings is essential for a happy existence. Whether that connection begins and ends within the blissful hour of yoga or if it lasts until you can no longer forward fold, human interaction is a beautiful way to invest your time.
3. Hold Hands
That's right! In this yoga experience we got to flow through airplane holding hands like we'd all been bffs for years. I forget how easy it is to become completely absorbed in oneself and how strange it feels at first to touch a stranger, which I don't think is a good thing. Touch each other! (Always with permission first)
4. Feel like a Part of the City
Minneapolis is one of my favorite cities (if not my absolute fave) in the whole world. I've been to quite a few on a few different pieces of land separated by different bodies of water. And alas, never have I wanted to live for such a long while in one as much as I do here. Participating in local events like Rooftop Yoga truly makes one feel like you're a pillar or at least a contributor to your city. I hope yours is also mine :)
5. Get a delicious Lyn Lake brew
If you haven't yet been to LynLake, go now. Drop what you are doing, call me first because I'm coming too, and get your butt to Lynlake to enjoy one of many exquisite craft beers. With a great array of options from golden ales to milky stouts, you're sure to find something you enjoy.
My personal favorite is the ZYTHOATS GOLDEN OAT IPA, which I couldn't pronounce at first but could drink extremely easily. It's hoppy like an IPA, smooth like a well filtered brew and gives you the perfect amount of buzz to go with your new sports bra tan line.
