5 Things to do in Minneapolis for Halloween
Tis the season all! That time of year where you can watch creepy ass movies and dress up like a zombie or a princess and no one cares. They don't care of course because they're wearing fishnets and a long tee. Whatever your Halloween flavor, it's time my fellow Minneapolites, to celebrate the ghouls and goblins around us. IT'S F*CKING HALLOWEEN!
Here are 5 things to do in MSP for Halloween.
1. Soap Factory Haunted Basement
Do NOT go to this if you scare easily. I hear it's real scary and unless Tom Hardy is next to me, you won't find me there. But! For those of you who thrive on a good scare, try this one out.
It's said to be one of the most notorious haunted experience in the Twin Cities. A warning, some of the most creepy local artists and set designers participate in the creation of this tour of terror. Enter at your own risk.
Toning it back a bit, Anoka is the Halloween Capital of the world! So bring your children or someone else's or your dog, and a lawn chair. This parade starts around 1pm on the 29th of October. Get there early or be one of those people who puts a chair down and then leaves until the parade starts, it's whatever you're into. 2016 marks the 96th Anoka celebration and I hear tell it'll be a Halloweeny good time for the whole damn fam.
3. First Avenue’s Annual Halloween Party & Costume Contest
On October 31st, get ready for the BEST HALLOWEEN PARTY IN TOWN. At least that's what First Ave is telling me. For $10 (or $15 at the door - procrastinators get charged) you can dance to the likes of DJ Smitty, Roy Freedom and many more. Also, there's a pretty steep costume contest as well with over $1,000 in cash prizes. First Ave is shelling out this year dangggg.
If you think your costume can beat the rest, step on up to the star building ya'll.
4. Boo-yonce
This one is 21+ and don't even try to tell me you don't want to dance to DJ Flip Phone spinning Beyonce all night, because I simply won't believe you. $7 cover at the door, Honey in NE hosts this Bey Halloween party from 9:30 to 2am, or for those of you that like your sleep, feel free to uber home around midnight. No one will judge you. Except for all your friends and that hot boy that's trying to buy you a drink. I won't judge you.
5. Strange Things: A Halloween Party
Every one and their sister has now seen at least half of the super awesome netflix series Stranger Things. Mill City Nights will host this Strange party with music by two local DJ's who will be playing a bit of everything according to the FB page.
Tickets are $10 advance and $12 at the door so get 'em while their hot. To be honest I have no idea what this has to do with Stranger Things so you'll have to go to find out. You're welcome for the detail!
Everyone be safe this Halloween and don't get into a car with a stranger and for Gods sake do not drive drunk or I will HUNT. YOU. DOWN. Happy Halloween!
