5 Intentions to Set to Make Your Day Great
It's unbelievably easy to go through your day with no intention whatsoever. These days, we trudge along doing only what we need to get by. This way of living is particularly dangerous because it smothers a spirit quicker than you can imagine.
Here are 5 intentions to set for a day made great.
1. Gratitude
Please don't roll your eyes at the gratitude thing just yet. Yes I agree that it's a bit overplayed lately but that's only because it really is a powerful quality to emote. Take it from a professional complainer, it could be worse. This is the strongest intention you could set because it reminds you at every turn how beautiful your life is.
The mere fact that you are alive and able to read these words warrants massive amounts of gratitude. Too often we are plagued by negativity and injustice and despicable displays (D. Trump get out of my face) that pull us into this vortex of defensiveness and fear. Our worlds can sometimes seem bleak but by choosing to be grateful, that bleakness is immediately turned on it's head.
2. Kindness
It shocks me how often kindness is overlooked. It's easily forgotten that other people are also living in the same (sometimes) shitty world that you are. For this intention, make it your mission to show others kindness. And don't go easy on yourself.
Show kindness to someone you'd otherwise never blink twice at. I'm talking the annoying guy that works in your office or your neighbor who plays house music at 3am on a Tuesday. Let your kindness make a ripple, in the hopes that they'll pay it forward.
3. Confidence
This is the easiest quality to fake and the most difficult to actually possess. Why? Because it's directly linked with the outside world around you, and chances are the people around you are faking confidence brilliantly.
I think that confidence comes from within, it should shine like an Iphone flashlight from the deepest part of your heart. The way to show confidence is NOT to make others feel lesser. It's to raise them up and be an example of how confidence should look. Example: giving others praise for something you'd love to do.
4. Focus
This is one that I personally struggle with harrrrddddd. It's also the most frustrating because I lose it so very easily. The reason this intention is so important is because it will remind you of what is important to you. Not to your boyfriend/girlfriend/friend, but to you.
What I have found this intention helps with, is my ability to say "no". That isn't something that comes easily to me as I am terrible with placing expectations on myself.
5. Willingness
I'm not sure where the fear of new things, new people and new experiences came from, but it's a tangible part of our society. Our world is drowning in cliques and expectations and labels that act as a cage for our willingness to experience things.
This intention is meant to open your mind and heart to new things and new people. Ways in which you can sent this intention into motion are as follows: Invite someone new to have lunch with you orbe willing to take on a new project you've been putting off. Try something new.
I hope that you do in fact set one of these intentions today and that it brightens your day.
Sincerest thank you for reading.
